Display: Word Ambassadors: Prayers and Poetry

Reading: Acts 2:20

“The sun shall be turned to darkness and the moon to blood before the coming of the Lord’s great and glorious day.”

Signs that the Lord alone can bring about.

Regardless of our advanced sciences or technology. Far beyond the capacity of special effects. Impossible for our most ingenious imaginations to conceive.

Impossible to be manufactured by man or imposters. His display alone. His power.

Centuries earlier God unveiled the weakness of the Egyptian gods revered and feared by multiple cultures of that era. “One by one, the Lord turned their idols of worship into symbols of disease, destruction and loathing. Plague by plague He challenged each Egyptian god. He stretched forth His hand and proved their gods false and powerless before Him, the Creator, the true source of life-giving waters.”

Scripture reminds us that our world will again be called to choose, “For a time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but wanting to have their ears tickled, they will accumulate for themselves teachers in accordance to their own desires.”
2 Tim 4:3

Keep us, O Lord, from the allure and intimidation of false power. Open our eyes to see Your wonders every day and trust only in You.

Psalm of Worship: Genesis 1:20

“And God said, ‘Let the waters bring forth swarms of living creatures, and let birds fly above the earth across the dome of the sky.’”

Faith Seeds: Prayers and Poetry

Instructions

            No wonder children become confused

when encouraged to be amused by

            comics and cartoons and yet

            admonished to remember

            it’s only pretend.

            Stories, movies, theater all

            make believe.

Next we wonder why as they grow

scoff at faith stories, analyze each

by cynicism. Can maybe see only

            momentary fragments, glimpses

            of gift, question eternity.

            Resurrection life beyond comprehension,

            promises blemished by facts.

            Need to capture creation’s beauty,

            with fresh imagination.  Life anew

            fresh from decay, seasons change,

            discover  soul heritage  in

            breathless histories.

            Imagination and reality build bridges,

            connect the impossible.

Faith Seeds: Prayers and Poetry

Reflection Questions

1.     Where would you register your faith meter if putting it on a scale?

2.     Is your head faith, heart faith, and action faith all in sync?

3.     Which one do you struggle with? Do you know why?

4.     What wonderful step is God placing before you right now?

Faith Seeds: Prayers and Poetry

Genesis 18:9-15, “The Lord said to Abraham, ‘Why did Sarah laugh and say, ‘Shall I indeed bear a child, now that I am old?’ Is anything too wonderful for the Lord?’….”.

Like Sarah, I too deny I said or thought or felt a reaction because in the face of God’s presence, His words, I cannot with a clear conscious deny Him. So instead I try to hide my doubts and my fears behind mediocre remarks and attitudes. Dismissive asides.

And each time He already knows.

Thank you Lord for not allowing us to live under the false lies we tell ourselves. But rather bring our lack of faith up into your light to see it clearly. To recognize we are attempting to rely on our weaknesses instead of Your power.

There is absolutely nothing too wonderful for the Lord.

Please open our eyes to see.

Psalm of Worship: Psalm 26:7

“That I may proclaim with the voice of thanksgiving,
And declare all Thy wonders.”
