Drifting: Purpose: Prayers and Poetry

                                               Drifting

                                                Too easy sometimes

                                                to use proper

                                                words according to our

                                                witness of scripture

                                                not recognizing our own

                                                neglect in our hearts

                                                light blurred

                                                listening dulled

                                                drifting from His path

                                                despite belief.

                                                Time to return

                                                trust His presence

                                                wash away false imitations

                                                walk in Spirit’s power

                                                not our own perspective

                                                need to embrace

                                                life that restores

                                                lifts souls in strength

                                                dare to walk boldly

                                                dependant on His love.

Psalm 18:38, “I shattered them, so they were not able to rise; they fell under my feet.”

Return: Purpose: Prayers and Poetry

Philippians 3: 17-18, “Brothers, join in imitating me, and keep your eyes on those who walk according to the example you have in us. For many, of whom I have often told you and now tell you even with tears, walk as enemies of the cross of Christ.”

Return

What is on the outside does not always match what is on the inside. How often do we pretend politeness, while inwardly are having a rude conversation on how we really feel?

Speaking the right words—even to ourselves—does not always mean we live them. Sometimes we even manage to fool ourselves. Or even be sincerely unaware that our thoughts and attitudes are opposing the Lord.

Lord, please break through the chains and darkness of false worship and actions when we drift away. Pour out Your true light and path into us—heart, mind, and soul—that we may stay faithful on whatever road we are walking.

Your thoughts,
