Cornerstone: 2 John: Prayers and Poetry

                Cornerstone

                His teaching
                our foundation
                to protect from
                false copycats
                seeking to feed lies.

                But cannot enter into
                our hearts and thoughts
                when we daily hold
                to His Spirit's words
                to listen and walk.

                Into blessed relationships
                abiding truth always.

Psalm 107:33: "He changes rivers into a wilderness, And springs of water into a thirsty ground."

Reflection: Foundation: 2 John: Prayers and Poetry

Reflection Questions

        1. Do you consider yourself abiding daily in Christ's teaching? Why or why not?

        2. What teaching foundation from God keeps you listening to His words and walking in relationship with Him?

        3. How do you hold fast to His foundation and words and truth in ALL circumstances to recognize false teachings from others?

Share: "Let me speak a word of peace that Jesus brings in me." How would you share this with another person seeking His truth?

Foundation: 2 John: Prayers and Poetry

Reading: 2nd John:9-10: "Anyone who goes too far and does not abide in the teaching of Christ, does not have God; the one who abides in the teaching, he has both the Father and the Son. If anyone comes to you and does not bring this teaching, do not receive him into your house, and do not give him a greeting.

Foundation

Your foundation--Your words--Your truth--Your life never falters.

Thank you Lord for caring and protecting us in all situations.

May we keep listening to Your words and be able to recognize false copycats before we even listen to them.

Thank you for the gift of Your Holy Spirit to daily offer truth for us to listen and walk in holy relationship.

Your thoughts,

                Foundation

                His stone
                solid foundation
                even when ignored
                stands firm
                every moment
                sanctuary
                entrance open
                spiritual cornerstone

Reflection Questions: Foundation: By Faith: Prayers and Poetry

Reflection Questions

1. What questions do we need to ask ourselves to determine what we are building towards?

2. What wrong materials or cracks in the foundation need to be replaced/restored/repaired?

3. Do we look to the work with eagerness or resignation? Why?

Foundation: By Faith: Prayers and Poetry

Hebrews 11:10, “For he looked forward to the city that has foundations, whose architect and builder is God.”

Foundation

A fresh calendar, a new slate is often how we anticipate a new year or month, week or sometimes even a free day, and yet there also lingers the undone from yesterday and conflicting emotions.

Are we running ahead with anticipation or running away?  Standing on tiptoe to seek God’s vision, or burying our heads under staggering concerns.

Abraham dwelt in a tent and dreamed of God’s city. Some might think it only as a myth, a fairy tale, or an exaggerated sense of imagination, yet he knew the architect personally and already had been the recipient of God’s grace. So the disconnect between daily life on desert plains, sandstorms, and unfamiliar routes, and his long-term destination were not incompatible, not an emotional escape.

Every day he stood on that farseeing hope for guidance, choices and purpose. Was it easier then to see his horizon without the time clock frenzy that interrupts our ability to pause and dream and wonder with awe?

Lord, please set each of us firmly on the path You choose for us to journey and give us hearts to live into Your vision. No matter how difficult a day may become, keep our faith fixed on Your foundations as we build our lives with Your words.

Your thoughts,

Foundation: Listen: Prayers and Poetry

                        Foundation

                        As more than conquerors

                        brings a heart to safety

                        gives peace that digs

                        deep into our souls

                        as a guarantee

                        for next skirmish

                        that comes.

                        A relief not to trust

                        in ourselves but rely

in His power

                        as our strong foundation

                        regardless of shaking ground

                        challenging us to doubt

                        we remember He hears.

Foundation: Word Ambassadors: Prayers and Poetry

Reading: Acts 2:42

“They devoted themselves to the apostle’s teaching and fellowship, to the breaking of bread and the prayers.”

Foundations upon which to build. Not rigid rules to coerce participation. Instead, a fluid, organic, gathering out of respect, love, and search to worship.

Devoted. A strong ongoing hunger to know God’s word and seek its truth and power in every aspect of life. To return to it again and again to ground actions with heart and heart into actions. Under His authority.

Fellowship. No one left alone, isolated, or ignored. Singles, families, strangers, travellers all found a safe haven to gather and share life burdens, hopes, and calling. To seek discernment. To be embraced.

Breaking of bread. Reminder of redemption, cost of new life, center of purpose, soul alignment to everlasting truth regardless of present history. Together—communal. Confidence in trial.

The prayers. Prayers of the past promises to seek once more. Prayers of protection from immediate dangers. Prayers to become attuned to God’s design, heart, purposes His way.  Prayers for healing minds, souls, and bodies. Clarity for daily decisions and choices.

Grace grounded in Christ. Community grounded in His love. Consistent throughout all generations. Ongoing invitation. Holy Spirit present.

Lord, thank you for Your foundations where we can find hope and encouragement in relationships through You to each other.

Psalm of Worship: Psalm 27: 3

“Though an army encamp against me, my heart shall not fear;
though war rise up against me, yet I will be confident.”
