Grief-stained
city stood now
in penitence
accepted judgement
given by God alone
calm under deserved
impotence, stripped
authority its just penalty
given by grace only
chance of restoration
impossible unless under
almighty hands.
Psalm 37:22: "for those blessed by the Lord shall inherit the land, but those cursed by Him shall be cut off."
