Refining Words

BRANCHES

Embers glow

sparks scatter

like fireworks

in the sky unexpected

snaps, quick crackle

of dry branches

devoid of sap

end fruit bearing days.

Bruised branches now

pruned hear—sigh

still abide.

Growth comes again

in time.
